REST IN PEACE LUCKY

Our beloved beautiful calf Lucky died early this morning at Animal Acres, in peace and in love. She was born on Monday July 6, 2009 in a Slaughter house in Chino, CA along with her brother Nandi who died last Sunday. She was 13 days old. Their mothers were slaughtered the same day they were born for meat. We were so blessed beyond belief to have these two in our lives and forever have them in our hearts. Lucky, your strength, courage, forgiveness, love has awoken in us a beautiful light of compassion. I love you Lucky and will never forget the imprint you have forever made on  my life and the life of others... You died in peace, knowing that you were loved, and it was time for you to go back home with your Mother and your brother, and the billions of animals in heavenly bliss...  With the utmost respect, love and gratitude, may you rest in harmony bliss and happiness forever, your MOMMY Vanessa Hidalgo :)  xxoxoxooxxo   Kisses always on your head....

Update on Regina & Baby Calf... Vanessa Hidalgo will team up with Supreme Master Television at the Animal Rights Conference 2009

Hello Everyone...

Just an update on Regina and our baby calf... Originally she was named "Lucky" because she was believed to be a boy, but she is a female and that is confirmed. We are toying with the name Phyllis, Penny, Esperanza... Still deciding on a name for her. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. We've been calling her "Lucky" at the moment, because she really is lucky to be alive. They are both doing great. "Lucky" has been taking in lots of fluids but still continues to have diarrhea, and this does worry me a bit. But in heart, I know she will make it. Send her a little prayer of strength and vitality, and love of course...

Tomorrow I will be teaming up with Supreme Master Television at the National Animal Rights Conferences 2009 in Los Angeles, CA, conducting interviews and spreading the word for our vegan fundraiser dinner next Friday which I all hope you will attend. If you have never seen Supreme Master Television, you can visit their online positive programming channel at www.suprememastertv.com Truly AMAZING!!! Had a great vegan lunch with Vegan Chef/Author Marilyn Mc Donald, who will be publishing a new cookbook, that describes the transition into veganism. She is an amazing woman. You can visit her website at www.veganbitebybite.com Can't wait till her book comes out! Alright, I'm off to sleep. I send kisses and hugs to all my animal babies at Animal Acres, Regina and "Lucky", all their friends who are still at the Stockyard, all the animals in the world, humans, children, nature... and you all of course... Good night. And please check out these cute pics we took today. More video footage to be posted shorty... love, Vanessa Hidalgo :)

READ MORE ABOUT The Nandi & Friends Animal Sanctuary- a non-profit in the Making :)

Our group, Nandi & Friends is an organization of compassionate vegan artists who grew concerned of the horrible atrocities occurring at the neighboring Dairy Farms and Stockyards in Chino, CA. We hope to build the first Farmed Animal Sanctuary in the Inland Empire and awaken compassion in all beings on earth, towards nature & our animal friends. We believe that each human & animal deserves to live a life free of harm and full of love for the rest of their lives, and that is where we come in. Although we know we cannot save the billions of animals that are slaughtered each year, if we can start with one animal at a time, this will make a difference, all while educating the masses of cruelty-free living and plant based eating, where it is greatly needed in the Inland Empire.

Regina, our 1 and 1/2 year old female cow, and "Lucky" our baby calf are the first two animals that we have rescued from a Chino Stockyard, thanks to the courageous efforts of Vanessa Hidalgo, M. Johnai iDaniel, Isidro & Teresa Hidalgo, all of the people who've donated, Juan, & the lovely family and friends at Animal Acres !!! Both of these babies were transported safely this week and are recovering just fine. We are having ongoing fundraisers every Wednesday in July 2009 at the "Green Market" in the Claremont Village, selling HANDPAINTED "Nandi Rocks" & other vegan treats, and all of the proceeds go towards funding our newly rescued cows (feed, medical expenses, and finding a permanent sanctuary in the Inland Empire).

Join us NEXT FRIDAY JULY 24th, 2009 in UPLAND for a VEGAN DINNER FUNDRAISER!!! All procceeds to towards our newly rescued babies.

Monday July 13, 2009- Transporting baby calf to Animal sanctuary

It's been a while since I've written. A lot has happened. The baby boy were were originally going to adopt with Regina was euthanized 2 weeks ago because he slipped and fell, and apparently he was not going to be allowed with a broken foot. I felt very sad about this. Regina is gaining more weight and seems to be getting along better around her human friends.. Now for some sad news... On Monday July 6, 2009, Nandi, a male calf along with his sister Ananda, were both born in a slaughterhouse in Chino, CA... Their mothers were butchered the same day. I don't know if they recieved colostrum, which is crucial the first 2 days of birth for babies to receive. I saw them in the auction pen on Wednesday and adopted them. They have been at a stockyard since then, and on Sunday I went to visit them and give them water. They both seemed okay. This morning the baby calf Ananda was found dead. Possibly from heat exhaustion. I cried my eyes out this morning, and made some phone calls. I was able to transport the male, Nandi in my car and took him to an animal sanctuary in Acton, CA. He is doing a little better, although is still very week. If you are reading this, send him a little prayer. As for Regina, tomorrow, we will tranport her to this temporary sanctuary, until we find a permanent home for the Nandi & Friends Animal Sanctuary! Thanks for reading... love, Vanessa
